Set within rural Suffolk, in 13 acres of countryside, West Suffolk Crematorium and Cemetery provides a natural place for families to hold a dignified service of their choice. We opened in 1989, and as the need for our services grew over the years, we decided there was a real need for a second chapel. In March 2018, we opened our new chapel, named the Abbey Chapel, and renamed the existing chapel the St Edmund's Chapel.
The St Edmund's Chapel is a more traditional chapel, furnished with oak pews, and with a warm and comforting atmosphere. We can seat 95 comfortably in this chapel, with standing room for another 30 or 40.
The Abbey Chapel is a more modern chapel, light and airy with oak, upholstered chairs. We can seat 60 in this chapel with standing room for another 20 to 30 guests.
In June 2018 our Hospitalty Suite opened - this includes the Meadow Cafe and 2 function rooms for holding funeral wakes. The cafe is open to all visitors and offers lovely food, all home-cooked on the premises, from a full cooked breakfast to sandwiches and cakes. The hospitality suite has 2 rooms of differing sizes where families can hold a wake to their chosen requirements. (see tabs above for more information on the cafe and hospitality)
Serving communities from Bury St Edmunds to Ipswich, Thetford to Diss, Newmarket to Cambridge, West Suffolk Crematorium has a reputation for always being there to help families hold a first-class funeral service for their loved one.
In May 2005 we opened our cemetery, which offers traditional burial plots in a pleasant landscaped area or the more natural woodland glade, where a burial can take place against a backdrop of mature trees. More trees have been planted and wildflowers sown to give a beautiful setting for whichever burial option is chosen.
